Horsham resident Scott Brown is an engineer, high school teacher and avid outdoor photographer. He has published numerous photographs and articles in nature magazines. He is a member of the North American Nature Photographers Association.
Scott Brown hiked into places far off Pennsylvania’s beaten paths researching and photographing locations for his book Pennsylvania Waterfalls: a Guide for Hikers and Photographers. Ideal conditions for taking photographs in the best light often meant overcast skies and light rain, conditions less than ideal for safe hiking. He had unique encounters with Pennsylvania wildlife, encountering bear, cougar and once even watching an elusive fisher foraging along the edge of a stream.
The exhibit on display through February 26, 2005 features twenty-two outdoor photographs, including pictures of waterfalls and landscapes taken at Ricketts Glen State Park and Ringing Rocks County Park in Pennsylvania. Two photos taken at Gettysburg National Military Park are entitled “High Water Mark” and “Through the Fog.” The exhibit includes a number of photographs taken at Arches National Park and Bryce Canyon Park in Utah, Badlands National Park in South Dakota, Crater Lake in Oregon and other wilderness areas. The exhibit features a striking night-time photo entitled “Tribute in Light” depicting the Towers of Light memorial to the World Trade Center towers taken in March 2002.
