Checking Your Credit Report
Beginning on September 1, 2005 Pennsylvania residents may request a free credit report each year from each of the three credit bureaus listed below. You can make your request by mail, by toll-free telephone, or via the Internet.
Your request must include your full name (including middle initial, Jr., Sr., or III if used), your address, your social security number, and your date of birth. You should specify which company's report your want. You can request all three at once, or space them out throughout the year.
The law does not require these companies to provide a free credit score (the three digit number that summarizes your record). Your credit score and other services are offered for a fee. Under the Federal Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act of 2003, the credit bureaus are required to provide one free credit report each year.
For more information concerning your rights to a free credit report, visit the Federal Trade Commission's website at WWW.FTC.GOV
