Local author Scott E. Brown, author of the new book Pennsylvania Mountain Vistas: a Guide for Hikers and Photographers, will speak and autograph copies of his book at the Horsham Township Library Monday, May 12, 2008 at 7 PM. Copies of his book will be available to be purchased for $15.00 a copy.

The program, sponsored by the Friends of the Horsham Library, will include a slide talk by Mr. Brown describing how he researched and photographed the locations included in his book. He will discuss his experiences with the publishing process, talking about how the book moved from concept, to manuscript to published volume.

Stackpole Books of Mechanicsburg published Pennsylvania Mountain Vistas: a Guide for Hikers and Photographers in January 2008. The 192 page guide explores 78 of the most inspiring outlooks across the commonwealth, offering detailed descriptions of each hike, with maps and information on distance, difficulty, elevation change, and highlights along the way. Scott Brown offers photographers tips on composition, exposures, unique perspectives, lighting and gear.

Scott Brown, a Horsham resident, is an engineer, high school teacher and avid outdoor photographer. He has published numerous photographs and articles in nature magazines. His first book, Pennsylvania Waterfalls, was published by Stackpole Books in 2005. He is a member of the North American Nature Photographers Association and is currently at work on a guide to the wild places of New York state for hikers and photographers.
